The Journey to Becoming an Instructor
I was an athlete all through high school, so when I got to college I craved intense workouts. There I discovered group fitness! I attended classes daily and eventually was approached with the idea of training to teach Pilates. I taught Pilates for 3 years then took a short break while finishing up school. Now, I am back with BodyFlow and am currently training for BodyCombat. I love working out with a group and enjoy the feeling of mutual accomplishment at the end of a challenging class.
Get to know Danielle
If you could have a super power, what would it be? I would like to be able to fly. I am not a very good traveler - I get terrible motion sickness in the car and in airplanes (I can't even read off my phone). If I could fly I would be much more open to taking far trips!
What is your guilty pleasure? Various Netflix shows! It is too easy to get caught up and watch multiple episodes. Luckily, my Fitbit buzzes every hour to remind me to move.
What do you like to do in your free time? Whenever I am home, I devote my attention to my two crazy cats, Mica and Coal. My fiance and I like to stay active outside the gym by exploring Iowa with our kayaks and bike riding. I also love to cook and try out new recipes - I am open to suggestions anytime!
What is your favorite exercise? So many to choose from! I love lunges. They make me feel strong and empowered. Plus there are so many variations and intensities with jumping switch lunges, pulses, back and forward, etc.
If you were stranded on an island, who would you want to be stranded with and what 5 things would you want to have with you? Don't tell my fiance, but I would want to be stranded with my dad. He is always prepared and is such a survivor! I am not very good at these types of questions because I am too practical... I would want:
1) Water purifying tablets
4) Protein bars
5) A compass!
Would you rather?
- Watch TV or read a book? Read a book.
- Have a night out or evening in? Evening in.
- Go climbing or zip lining? Zip lining, though both scare me a bit.
- Camp in an RV or stay in a tent? Stay in a tent.
- Play dodgeball or kickball? Kickball
